University of California Hastings College of the Law Launches Chancellor & Dean Search

SAN FRANCISCO — The UC Law SF Board of Directors in consultation with the Faculty has officially launched the search for the next Chancellor & Dean.

The Chancellor & Dean at UC Law SF serves as the chief executive officer, with overall executive authority and accountability for the success of the College.

In accordance with the By-Laws and Standing Orders of the UC Law SF Board of Directors, a Dean Search Committee is organized consisting of four members of the UC Law SF Board of Directors and three members of the UC Law SF Faculty.

The members of the search committee include:

• Professor Ben Depoorter; Vice-Chair
• Board of Directors Vice-Chair Chip Robertson
• Director Marci Dragun
• Director Mary Noel Pepys
• Professor Yvonne Troya
• Professor Joan C. Williams

“This is a significant and transformative moment in time for UC Law SF, as we expand our campus and build our reputation as a top national law school,” said Gede. “It calls for strong, dynamic leadership from a candidate with the vision and skills to propel UC Law SF forward. Our Dean Search Committee is committed to finding that candidate.”

The search committee welcomes candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including those with experience in legal education administration and other higher education administration, and candidates with senior management experience outside of academia, including the judiciary, government service, and the legal profession.

Several town hall meetings will also be held in late August and early September to allow the UC Law SF community to present views and assist the search committee in choosing the best candidate.
