Bio
Tony Cheng is a staff attorney with the Center for Families, Children, and the Courts at the Judicial Council of California. Prior to joining the Judicial Council, Tony was a public defender for many years and has litigated cases in the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the federal district court for the Southern District of California, the San Diego County Superior Court, the Alameda County Superior Court and the California Court of Appeals. Tony has tried almost forty criminal jury trials to verdict during his career. In addition to teaching LRW I and II at UC Law SF, Tony also taught classes at the UC Berkeley School of Law and was a clinical supervisor at the East Bay Community Law Center.
Tony is a graduate of the UC Davis School of Law (King Hall), where he served as chair of the Moot Court Board and graduated from the school’s Public Interest Law Program. Tony is a native Californian and lives in Berkeley with his wife (Mary) and their two teenagers (Simon and Kate) and their two dogs (Ziggy and Wilbur).
