Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has appointed UC Law SF alumna Rachel Hernandez ’95 to serve as a judge on the Maricopa County Superior Court. Maricopa is the most populous county in Arizona.

Hernandez ’95 brings more than 25 years of distinguished public service and legal experience to the bench. She has served with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona since 1998, most recently as first assistant U.S. Attorney from 2021 until earlier this year. In addition to her public service, she has held leadership roles in Arizona’s legal community, including serving as the president of the Arizona Bar Foundation and as a member of several Arizona State Bar committees.

Hernandez’s appointment underscores the College’s longstanding tradition of producing graduates who go on to serve on the bench and in public service.
