Bio
Jana Clark recently retired from the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office after a distinguished career in public service. She began her tenure on the Code Enforcement Team, where she litigated cases against irresponsible landlords to protect vulnerable residents and strengthen neighborhoods. She later joined the Government Team, where she became the lead attorney on complex sanctuary policy matters and Second Amendment issues. In that role, Jana served as a trusted advisor to several City departments, including the District Attorney, Sheriff, and Public Defender, and authored significant legislation and guidance documents that became models for jurisdictions throughout California.
Before joining the City Attorney’s Office, Jana worked at the Office of the State Public Defender, where she represented capital defendants in post-conviction appeals and habeas corpus proceedings.
Throughout her career, Jana has been committed to mentoring future lawyers. At both the City Attorney’s Office and the Office of the State Public Defender, she served as the intern coordinator for her teams. She also taught Appellate Advocacy at Golden Gate University School of Law.
Jana earned her undergraduate degree from Yale College and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law.
