Bio
Kyle O’Malley is a senior associate at Fox Rothschild LLP in San Francisco. His trial and appellate practice focuses on defending employers—both in class and individual actions—and advising businesses on compliance with California’s complex employment laws. Before joining Fox Rothschild, Kyle was an associate at a San Francisco boutique firm, where he litigated employment, civil rights, entertainment, and intellectual property matters, including two matters before the California Supreme Court.
Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, Kyle earned his B.A. in English from Stanford University (’13) and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (’19). At UVA, he served as a Senior Dillard Writing Fellow, mentoring first-year students in legal research and writing, and as an editor on the Journal of Law and Politics, founded by Justice Antonin Scalia. He was awarded the Earle K. Shawe Labor Relations Award, presented to the graduating student showing the greatest promise as a labor relations practitioner.
Outside his practice, Kyle is deeply committed to public service. He serves on the California Lawyers Association’s DEI Committee, the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Barristers Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and has been a Commissioner on the Oakland Mayor’s Commission on Persons with Disabilities. He lives in Oakland with his husband, an artist and activist, and enjoys painting, exploring nature, and catching live music around the Bay Area.
