Lucia Martel-Dow
Attorney and Director of the New Americans Campaign (NAC), Immigrant Legal Resource Center

 

Lucia Martel-Dow directs the New Americans Campaign, a national collaborative that expands access to naturalization and trusted legal assistance for immigrants. A Venezuelan-born attorney and former diplomat, she previously led immigration and social-services programs at Canal Alliance and has worked on human rights, immigrant integration, and citizenship policy.

 

 

Sidra Mahfouz
Staff Attorney, ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project

 

Sidra Mahfooz is a Staff Attorney at the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project (IRP) based in New York. Prior to joining IRP, Sidra was an Associate in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and clerked for the Constitutional Court of South Africa. She is a graduate of Stony Brook University and New York University School of Law.

 

 

Sandra Wong
Descendant of Wong Kim Ark

 

Sandra Wong is a descendant of Wong Kim Ark, whose landmark 1898 Supreme Court victory established that the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees citizenship to nearly everyone born in the United States. After discovering her family’s connection to the case, Wong began researching and publicly preserving her ancestor’s legacy. She has participated in documentary and community projects and speaks about the continuing importance of birthright citizenship.
