Bio

Ms. Cantarella is an international development legal expert with over twenty years’ professional experience, providing policy and legislative advice in developing and post-conflict countries (such as Egypt, Iraq, Oman, Seychelles, and Syria) on behalf of intergovernmental organizations, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the Pacific Community. She has drafted primary and subsidiary legislation for UN Member States and regularly trains government officials and practitioners on legislative drafting, regulatory design, and emerging issues at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence.

Ms. Cantarella has practiced law in New York City for over thirty years, most recently serving as Chief Legal Officer of Broadway Technology, a leading provider of fintech trading solutions. Her practice has focused on intellectual property, technology, corporate governance, and data protection/privacy.

Currently an Adjunct Professor at UC Law San Francisco, she has taught intellectual property law, legal research and writing, business associations, entrepreneurship law, and artificial intelligence law. She frequently lectures internationally on a variety of topics, including intellectual property law, artificial intelligence, and legislative drafting. Ms. Cantarella holds a BS in Speech With Distinction from Northwestern University and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.
