Claudia Cantarella
Associate Director for the Masters of Legal Studies Program and Adjunct Professor
Bio
Ms. Cantarella is an international development legal expert with over twenty years’ professional experience, providing policy and legislative advice in developing and post-conflict countries (such as Egypt, Iraq, Oman, Seychelles, and Syria) on behalf of intergovernmental organizations, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the Pacific Community. She has drafted primary and subsidiary legislation for UN Member States and trained government officials and practitioners on legislative drafting, regulatory design, and emerging issues at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence.
Ms. Cantarella has practiced law in New York City for over thirty years, most recently serving as Chief Legal Officer of Broadway Technology, a leading provider of fintech trading solutions. Her practice has focused on intellectual property, technology, and corporate law.
Currently serving as Associate Director for the MLS Program and as an Adjunct Professor at UC Law San Francisco, Ms. Cantarella also teaches in Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Law program. She has taught intellectual property law, legal research and writing, corporate compliance, applied contracts, and professional communication. She frequently lectures internationally on intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and related legal and regulatory issues, including recent lectures at universities in Ghana and Kosovo.
Ms. Cantarella holds a BS in Speech With Distinction from Northwestern University and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.
