Bio

Professor Lipkin will be joining UC Law SF in the Fall 2025 term to co-teach Mergers and Acquisitions with Professor John Bender.

Currently David serves as Senior Counsel and Partner to McDermott Will & Emery, where his practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and venture capital transactions for companies in the technology and life sciences sectors. He represents both public and private acquirers and target companies, as well as special committees, in large complex and sophisticated M&A transactions. David also assists start-ups and emerging growth companies in raising capital for growth and liquidity purposes.

David has represented Nicholas Enterprises in connection with Broadcom’s acquisition by Avago ($37 billion), Japanese wireless carrier SoftBank in its acquisition of a 78% stake in wireless operator Sprint Nextel ($21.6 billion) and in connection with Sprint’s acquisition of the remainder of Clearwire Corporation not already owned by it ($3 billion).

David has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Biotechnology and Life Science Practice and Corporate Law (2015-2025), IFLR1000, M&A (2022-2023), and the Legal 500 US (2018).

David received his JD from the University of Michigan Law School, and his BA from Cornell University.
