Bio
David Stiepleman is an Adjunct Professor specializing in private investment funds. He is a Co-Founding Partner and Co-President of Sixth Street, the global investment firm. He recently helped lead Sixth Street’s record-breaking investment in BayFC, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) franchise representing the San Francisco Bay Area. Prof. Stiepleman serves as a Director of BayFC and of Sixth Street Specialty Lending (NYSE:TSLX), a publicly traded business development company.
Prof. Stiepleman has been a cross-border corporate lawyer, senior executive, and business builder for more than 25 years, starting and running businesses, and representing clients, in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He is a strategic advisor to Westbound Equity Partners, a venture firm that invests financial and social capital into exceptional ventures led by, solving for, or built together with underrepresented people of color. He also serves on the Board of StoryCorps and as an English tutor at Mt. Tamalpais College, a college-degree and college preparatory program at San Quentin State Prison in California. He received his BA in French and Political Science from Amherst College, and his law degree from Columbia Law School.
