Bio
James René Jolin is a Research Fellow at the UCSF/UC Law SF Consortium on Law, Science & Health Policy at UC Law SF College of the Law. His work spans a variety of topics at the intersection of criminal-legal involvement and public health, including alternative emergency response initiatives, Section 1115 Medicaid waivers, and medical-legal partnerships. James earned his A.B. degree in Government, on the Data Science track, from Harvard College, where he also conducted quantitative, qualitative, and legal research on topics ranging from the Affordable Care Act’s effects on people with criminal-legal involvement to jail healthcare accreditation to physician licensure reform. Most recently, James earned his MPhil in Population Health Sciences with Distinction from the University of Cambridge, as one of 26 Gates-Cambridge Scholars from the United States. James is passionate about understanding the link between sociolegal forces and disease burden and reducing health inequity more broadly.
