Bio
Professor Kass is a Visiting Professor at University of California School of Law and Professor Emeritus at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. In addition, she has taught as a visiting professor at Seattle University School of Law, California Western School of Law, and the University of Milan. She was also a Visiting Fellow at University of Queensland in Australia, a Visiting Scholar at Ghent University in Belgium, a Global Fellow at University of Dundee School of Law in Scotland, and a Fulbright Scholar at the College of Europe in Belgium. Her primary areas of teaching and scholarship are environmental law, natural resources law, comparative US/EU environmental law, and torts.
Professor Kass is active in the American Bar Association (ABA). She currently serves on the Editorial Board of the ABA Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER) publication National Resources & Environment (NR&E). She previously served on the SEER Council and as Chair of the ABA’s Biodiversity Law Committee and the ABA’s International Environmental and Resources Law Committee.
Prior to entering academia, Professor Kass practiced law for close to a decade with Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) and Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. She earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Law; a B.S. in biology from Tufts University; and a M.E.S. from Yale University School of the Environment. She also clerked for the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court.
