Michael Nieto

Adjunct Professor of Law

Bio

Adjunct Professor Nieto was born in NYC and raised in New Jersey. He attended Harvard University and Hastings College of the Law. He worked briefly at a large law firm and then began his career as a Deputy DA in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. He has spent nearly half of his career handling felony trials including homicide and capital cases. He has been a misdemeanor and felony trial team leader. He is now an Assistant District Attorney and serves as the Director of Recruitment and Development. He also works as one of the site coordinators for the Alameda County District Attorney Justice Academy. Professor Nieto has been a Hastings adjunct professor for the Criminal Practice Clinic since 2013. He has a passion for mentoring and developing the next generation of skilled trial lawyers.
