Bio

Morgan Elizabeth Wells (she/her) is the Associate Dean of the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program and a Professor of Practice. She earned her B.A. in English Writing from Denison University and her J.D. from UC Davis School of Law. Dean Wells brings a unique blend of legal expertise, executive operations, and entrepreneurial experience to her leadership of the MLS program. Her legal practice spans immigration, employment, tax, and business law, highlighted by her tenure as in-house counsel managing complex governance and compliance issues for a multi-entity network of non-profits. Her background also includes tech startup experience as well as non-profit executive leadership roles, such as serving as the COO of the Mangalam Research Center in Berkeley.

At UC Law SF, Dean Wells teaches many of the core classes for the MLS program, in addition to leading curriculum development and strategic growth. She has a keen interest in supporting the personal and professional goals of MLS students, drawing from her own interdisciplinary background to help non-lawyers navigate complex legal ecosystems.

In addition to her roles at UC Law SF, Dean Wells is the Executive Director and a board member for the Center for Creative Inquiry, a non-profit organization based in Berkeley, California. There, she leads retreats and programs on mindfulness and contemplative philosophy, with a special emphasis on how creative inquiry can impact our way of acting and being in the world.

Dean Wells is also a founding member of the steering committee for the National Legal Masters Association (NLMA).
