Bio

Following ten years of teaching in the California public schools, Professor Nancy Stuart attended law school at UC Law SF, ’94. Subsequently, Professor Stuart practiced in a variety of public interest settings from litigating Voting Rights cases with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights to representing individuals living with HIV in an array of civil legal issues with the Hawkins Center.

Professor Stuart returned to UC Law SF as a member of the faculty of the Civil Justice Clinic in July 2000. Throughout her tenure at UC Law SF, Professor Stuart was honored to learn with and from students in and out of the classroom. “It continues to be a thrill to work with students and graduates as they explore the vast legal landscape, develop and refine their professional identities, and discover their niche.”

Professor Stuart was honored to serve as UC Law SF first Associate Dean for Experiential Learning in 2012, she remained in this position until her retirement in 2016. Upon her retirement, a fund in her name was established to provide scholarships and grants to UC Law SF students committed to work in the public interest.
