Bio
Judge Tamara Ribas serves in the State Bar Court of California in the Review Department, which is the appellate level of the State Bar Court. She was appointed to this position by the California Supreme Court in 2022, and was reappointed to a six-year term in 2024. Previously, she was an Administrative Judge in the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board for 16 years, where she adjudicated federal employment cases.
Prior to her judicial career, Judge Ribas was an Assistant Regional Counsel/Senior Attorney at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for 8 years advising the Indian Health Service. She began her career as a Deputy Public Defender in Santa Clara County after receiving her juris doctor degree from UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings College of Law).
She will be co-teaching Legal Ethics with Professor Lois Schwartz during the Summer 2025 term.
