More than 300 Alumni Celebrate Spring Week 2026

The All-Alumni Reunion is a special time for alumni to reconnect and celebrate cherished memories and new accomplishments.
- More than 300 UC Law SF alumni took part in Spring Week 2026, enjoying celebrations and events and reconnecting with the College
- Myell Mergaert ’20 was named Alum of the Year and James Wagstaffe ’80 received the Chancellor’s Alumni of Distinction Award
- Nearly 100 alumni and friends generously donated during Raising the Bar, a special one-day fundraising event that is part of the school’s Into the Future campaign
More than 300 UC Law SF alumni celebrated Spring Week 2026, coming together on campus and at festivities around San Francisco from March 26 through March 28 to reconnect and show support for the College. Highlights included:
- The launch of the Half-Century Club for alumni who graduated 50 years or longer ago. The school hosted a kick-off luncheon in the Deb Colloquium Room and Sky Deck in the Cotchett Law Center welcoming the inaugural Half-Century Club celebrators, the Class of 1976.
- The All-Alumni Reunion in the beautiful San Francisco City Hall Rotunda on March 27, where Chancellor and Dean David Faigman welcomed more than 100 guests and honored Alum of the Year Myell Mergaert ’20 and Chancellor’s Alumni of Distinction Award winner James Wagstaffe ’80.
- The March 26 Jazz Brunch in the Deb Colloquium Room and Sky Deck honored members of the Legacy Society, who have included UC Law SF in their estate plans, and alumni whose graduation years ended in one or six.
- Alumni also came together on the evening of March 26 for the first gathering of the new Asian American and Pacific Islander Affinity Group.
- Nearly 100 alumni and friends generously donated during Raising the Bar, a special one-day fundraising event for the school on March 27. Part of the school’s Into the Future campaign, Raising the Bar donors contributed nearly $64,000 for scholarships and key programs.
- Alumni enjoyed the VIP treatment at Oracle Park and took in a San Francisco Giants game on March 28, generously supporting the participation of several current students.
- Alumni took tours of the school, including recently renovated and new facilities that are part of the school’s visionary Academic Village.

Alum of the Year Myell Mergaert ’20 was recognized for his engagement and volunteerism which have significantly enriched the UC Law SF community.

The Chancellor’s Alumni of Distinction Award was given to James Wagstaffe ’80 for significantly advancing the field of law through his professional achievements, leadership, and innovation.

Alumni who graduated 50 years or longer ago are members of the Half-Century Club. The College hosted a kick-off luncheon celebrating the inaugural Half Century Club celebrators, the Class of 1976.

Toni Young is a 1976 graduate of UC Law SF and has educated generations of students as the senior associate dean of legal writing & moot court.

UC Law SF alumni took to the stands to cheer on the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. The experience included batting practice viewing and field access.

Alumni enjoyed live music and good company at the annual Jazz Brunch.
