Jessup Moot Court Team Finishes in Top Third at Jessup Competition

The student-run Jessup Moot Court team displayed strong written and oral advocacy skills at the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
UC Law San Francisco’s Jessup Moot Court team traveled to Atlanta this spring for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, widely regarded as the world’s largest and most prestigious international law moot court event. Held over four days, it brought together 92 teams from law schools across the country, with the strongest advancing toward the international rounds.
This year’s oralists, 3Ls Oriane Motillon and Shivika Dass and 2Ls Krislam Junsay and Taryn D’Amore, were coached by 3L Joseph Cremona. Competing against some of the most well-resourced programs in the country, the team placed 26th overall and earned a spot in the advanced run-off round — a testament to months of rigorous preparation and exceptional advocacy.
The Jessup Competition centers on a fictional dispute between nations before the International Court of Justice, requiring competitors to master complex areas of public international law and argue both sides of the problem. Teams are judged on the quality of their written and oral advocacy, making the competition a rigorous test of both research depth and courtroom composure.
The UC Law SF students took ownership of every aspect of the competition process, including case preparation, brief writing, scheduling, and logistics. Junsay and D’Amore will return for the 2027 Jessup competition, with Motillon, Dass, and Cremona stepping into new roles as alumni coaches.
