MLS Partnerships
At University of California Law San Francisco, we believe in the power of collaboration to create meaningful educational and professional opportunities. Through the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program, we partner with government agencies, legal organizations, and educational institutions to provide working professionals with access to hands-on learning, career development, and impactful community engagement. These partnerships are a vital part of our mission to make legal education more accessible, practical, and relevant across sectors.
Government & Public Sector Partnerships
We proudly collaborate with the City of San Francisco and San Mateo County to support legal education. The MLS Program is designed to provide government employees with the legal expertise needed to navigate complex regulatory environments, draft and interpret policies, and enhance their professional impact within government agencies. As part of this partnership, eligible employees from San Francisco Government and San Mateo County receive a scholarship toward the MLS program.
UC Affiliate Partnership
UC Law SF collaborates with the University of California to expand access to legal education for UC staff and faculty. Through this partnership, eligible affiliates receive an application fee waiver and exclusive scholarship opportunities for the MLS Program, empowering professionals across the UC system to deepen their legal knowledge and strengthen their impact in their roles.

At UC Law SF, we collaborate with corporate partners across a wide range of industries in the San Francisco Bay Area to provide employees with the opportunity to expand their legal expertise through the MLS Program. As of June 2025, UC Law San Francisco’s legal master’s program is called the Master of Legal Studies (MLS), formerly the Master of Studies in Law (MSL). This change reflects a growing national trend toward standardizing the name of this degree and strengthens recognition of its value among employers, colleagues, and the public.
