Government & Public Sector Partnerships

UC Law San Francisco proudly partners with government agencies and public sector organizations to support access to legal education. The MLS Program provides professionals with practical legal knowledge to navigate complex regulations, understand and develop policies, and strengthen their impact in public service. Eligible employees of our partner organizations may receive a scholarship toward the MLS Program.

UC Affiliate Partnership

UC Law SF collaborates with the University of California to expand access to legal education for UC staff and faculty. Through this partnership, eligible affiliates receive an application fee waiver and exclusive scholarship opportunities for the MLS Program, empowering professionals across the UC system to deepen their legal knowledge and strengthen their impact in their roles.

Through partnerships with colleges and universities, UC Law San Francisco’s Master of Legal Studies program expands access to legal education for the broader higher education community. Eligible students, alumni, staff, and faculty of partner institutions may receive a tuition discount, providing an opportunity to build practical legal knowledge that complements their academic and professional experience.

UC Law San Francisco’s Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program is committed to expanding access to legal education. Enrolled members of federally recognized tribes are eligible for a tuition discount toward the MLS program.

UC Law SF Employees

UC Law SF employees have the opportunity to further their education through the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program. Eligible employees can take advantage of UC educational benefits and support to help earn their MLS degree while continuing their careers at UC Law SF.

Our New Name: Master of Legal Studies (MLS)

As of June 2025, UC Law San Francisco’s legal master’s program is called the Master of Legal Studies (MLS), formerly the Master of Studies in Law (MSL). This change reflects a growing national trend toward standardizing the name of this degree and strengthens recognition of its value among employers, colleagues, and the public.
