Equality Action Center
What We Do
The Equality Action Center works to remedy inequality based on class, race and gender. Our focus is pragmatic: we link rigorous research with practical steps to produce change within a 2-5 year time frame. Our current focus is on data-driven methods for building cross-class multiracial coalitions to defend democracy and build support for progressive policies on climate, culture-wars issues and economic inequality.
We have two new reports co-written by Joan C. Williams and Jared Abbott of the Center for Working-Class Politics.
To Build Progressive Coalitions, You Need to Bridge the Class Divide is a roadmap for building cross-class coalitions to reduce economic inequality, defend democracy and make progress on immigration, care economy policies, LGBTQIA+ rights, gun policy, public safety, climate change and abortion rights.
The Working-Class Winometer: Dialing Up to Victory disaggregates the electoral effects of policies and rhetoric that resonate with working-class values (forthcoming in August).
