Bio

HON. MICHAEL BISHAY is a Superior Court Judge, currently assigned to Alameda County Superior Court’s complex family law settlement department. He the Assistant Supervising Judge of family law, Chair of the family violence committee, member of the family law, community outreach, and AFCC committees. Judge Bishay is the past Commissioner of the Alameda County Superior Court, past Commissioner and Supervising Judicial Officer of Family Law (San Bernardino County—High Desert) and past faculty member of Center for Judicial Education and Research (CJER). Judge Bishay was the 2022 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for a Judicial Officer by the Alameda County Bar Association. He is the contributing editor of CEB’s “Practice Under the California Family Code,” and has presented numerous lectures and written articles about a variety of family law and domestic violence topics. Prior to being on the bench, he was a California Certified Family Law Specialist and an FBI analyst. Judge Bishay taught law school classes in the past and is looking forward to teaching family law at UC Law SF this spring.
