Simon Boehme

Bio
Simon is a technology entrepreneur and Senior Fellow at the Center for Negotiation & Dispute Resolution. He has written and taught online dispute resolution for over 14 years. In addition, Simon serves as a Partner at the 1000 Fund and as Chief Operating Officer of BillingNav, a leading technology-enabled medical balance billing solution for self-funded employer health plan participants. He is also the author of “Smart Risks: AI in Self-Insurance” and “Safe AI Basics”.
He co-chairs the Center for International Legal Studies Mediation Symposium, held biannually in Austria, and continues to advise multiple legal technology companies and the Legal Tech Fund. As a mediator, Simon led the development of San Francisco’s first online dispute resolution system for landlord-tenant disputes. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Disputly (formerly LegalWin) and founded Magnify—a contract platform that summarized website terms and conditions—which was later acquired. He also held senior positions at Lime as Head of Operations and Chief of Staff for Trust & Safety, and at Legaler as Vice President of Partnerships and President of Legaler Aid. Additionally, he served on the State Bar of California’s Access Through Innovation of Legal Services (ATILS) Task Force and contributed to the Accord Project Dispute Resolution Working Group, helping create guidelines and open-source code for smart legal contracts.
Appointed by the Obama Administration, Simon served from 2013 to 2019 on the U.S. Department of Education’s National Advisory Committee for Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI). He is a Truman Scholar, Coca-Cola Scholar, and Bezos Scholar. Simon earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and was a Mitchell Scholar at Maynooth University in Ireland, where he completed a Master of Arts in Mediation and Conflict Intervention. Simon currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
