Letters of Support for the Black Community from UC Law SF

UC Law SF is committed to creating an anti-racist culture on our campus. As part of this ongoing effort, please see the public statements of support for the Black community from various individuals and campus organizations below:

We will continue to need your support so please do not forget about this when the news eventually does.

I write today to state unequivocally that I stand with the Black community at UC Hastings and with all Black Americans who have witnessed and suffered the marginalization, violence, and unbearable killings of their community members.

Our world is experiencing overwhelming grief following the killing of George Floyd.

As an institution of higher education, we are positioned to fight this global pandemic of white supremacy that has infected all of us at every level of our society for centuries.

We stand united with our black brothers and sisters against violent, systematic racism and oppression.

Our hearts ache and we are outraged as we mourn the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, the latest publicized instances of persistent anti-Black violence and hatred in this country.

CGRS joins communities around the country in demanding accountability and justice for George Floyd and all other victims of police violence.

We can and must work to eradicate the racists mindsets, laws, policies, systems, and practices that endanger communities of color.

It should not have taken the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and Tony McDade, and the Black lives that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 for this country to have engaged in a conversation about the humanity of Black people.
