The Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (CNDR) at UC Law San Francisco is thrilled to announce the appointment of Corey Linehan as its new Associate Director. Corey brings to the role a rare combination of deep academic training in negotiation and dispute resolution, high-level experience in government and public policy, and a longstanding commitment to teaching and leadership in the field.

A native San Franciscan and graduate of Harvard Law School, Corey joins CNDR after years of public service in Washington, D.C., where he drew on his dispute resolution background to facilitate policymaking in complex, high-stakes environments.  As Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legislative Affairs, he facilitated Department components’ relationships with Congress, including that of the Community Relations Service. In that role, he also advised on policy initiatives ranging from civil rights legislation to issues related to artificial intelligence and privacy.  As Senior Health and Education Counsel to U.S. Senator Chris Coons, he supervised a legislative team and spearheaded negotiations on landmark, bipartisan initiatives on issues such as public health, biotechnology, and global human development.

At Harvard, Corey took numerous negotiation and dispute resolution courses, including a Dispute Systems Design Clinic taught by friend-of-CNDR Rachel Viscomi, for whom he also served as a research assistant. He was also a member of the teaching teams for several executive education courses and advanced negotiation workshops offered through Harvard’s prestigious Program on Negotiation. Before going to law school, Corey was a Fulbright Student to Spain, earned his M.Ed. from the University of Missouri, and obtained his B.A. from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.

“This is an exciting new chapter for our students, our law school, and the broader ADR community,” said Professor Hiro Aragaki, CNDR’s Faculty Director. “Corey’s addition to our leadership will help us continue to expand our global impact, deepen our academic offerings, and remain on the cutting edge of new developments in dispute resolution research, policy and practice.”

Please join us in welcoming Corey Linehan to the CNDR and UC Law San Francisco community!
