Federal Direct Loans
Apply for Federal Direct Loans
The largest portion of financial aid received by students is in the form of student loans. Please note that loan eligibility requires good credit. We strongly recommend that you get a copy of your credit report and resolve any negative issues right away. You may access a free credit report online. Financial loan applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens who are making satisfactory academic progress toward their degree. Campus-based aid eligibility for loans and scholarships is available only for the first six semesters of enrollment.

Note: The Department of Education recently made significant changes to processes and systems related to the awarding of federal student aid starting with the 2024-25 award year (FAFSA Simplification Act). Due to this change, higher ed institutions, including UC Law SF, did not have access to FAFSA data until early April. Financial aid awards for 2024-25 are currently being packaged.
When you complete the FAFSA, be sure to designate Uc-hastings College of the Law in the school section and include our School Code: G03947. Please note that our current legal name is UC Law San Francisco, however, our name is still listed as Uc-hastings College of the Law on the FAFSA.
