Trump’s Removal from the Ballot: A Discussion on the 14th Amendment’s Disqualification Clause

The ACS chapter at UC Law SF will be hosting a discussion joined by Nikhel Sus, Director of Strategic Litigation at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), regarding Section 3 of the 14th Amendment and how it played into the litigation seen in the SCOTUS case Trump v. Anderson, where the former president was taken off the ballot in Colorado. CREW represented the parties challenging Trump’s ballot eligibility in Colorado.
As director of strategic litigation for CREW, Nikhel Sus specializes in litigation focused on government accountability, transparency, and ethics. Nikhel previously served as a Trial Attorney at the Department of Justice in the Civil Division’s Federal Programs Branch, and as a Counsel at WilmerHale LLP. He clerked for Judge Reggie B. Walton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and Judge John T. Copenhaver of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Nikhel received his J.D. with highest honors from the George Washington University Law School, and his B.A. from the College of Charleston.
