Professor Jaime King Testifies on Transparency in Healthcare Costs Before US House Committee

Professor Jaime King testified on the subject of “Examining State Efforts to Improve Transparency in Healthcare Costs for Consumers” before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

“The cost of healthcare in the United States currently threatens the economic stability of our citizens, our businesses, our state and local governments, and our nation,” states Professor King in her prepared testimony.

So, what can Congress do about it?  Professor King suggests addressing ERISA preemption challenges, encouraging consumer pricing shopping initiatives, creating a public interest exemption to trade secrets, mandating interoperability of electronic medical records systems, and develop billing codes to pay for physician time for shared decision-making.

See Professor King live before the House Committee.
