Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

For more than a decade UC Law SF law students have partnered with the IRS and the United Way to offer free tax preparation and filing services to low-income community members.  During the 2025 tax filing season, the UC Law SF Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will be in-person, located at 200 McAllister Street at Hyde in San Francisco.  The VITA program will run on Mondays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, beginning February 9, 2026, through April 13, 2026, excluding February 16 and March 2. The VITA program is drop-in only and does not take appointments. We only take a limited number of taxpayers each day, between 20 and 25 individuals, depending on the number of tax preparers available each day. We generally fill these spots before 5:00 PM, so please arrive early if you would like to have your returns prepared at our site.
